CrN–Ag self-lubricating hard coatings
CrN–Ag composite films, 2.5–4 Am thick, were deposited by reactive magnetron sputtering on Si and stainless steel substrates in a 0.4 Pa pure nitrogen atmosphere at 500 -C. The layer composition was controlled by the relative power to 7.5-cm-diameter Ag and Cr targets to be 0, 3, 12, and 22 at.% Ag. The layers exhibit a dense columnar microstructure where the Ag is homogeneously distributed in ...
متن کاملChemical stripping of bulk saturated NEG coatings
In the recent years the installation of non-evaporable getter (NEG) coated dipole and quadrupole chambers at the GSI heavy ion synchrotron (SIS 18) have been carried out and ware completed in January 2010. The NEG coated chambers was part of different upgrade activities of the existing UHV system [1]. Those non-evaporable thin film getters, consisting of Ti–Zr–V, are deposited onto the vacuum c...
متن کاملCharacterization of CrN/TiN PVD Coatings on 316L Stainless Steel
In order to further enhance tribological properties 316 Low carbon stainless steel (L SS) used on mechanical parts. CrN/TiN with DC magnetron sputtering sources was carried out on PVD 316 L SS. The micro structure of the CrN/TiN coatings were investigated by Scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and tribology properties were investigated on a Pin on Disc friction and wear ...
متن کاملOxidation behavior of AlN/CrN multilayered hard coatings
We report on the oxidation behavior of AlN/CrN multilayers at 900 °C, deposited by radio frequency magnetron sputtering. It is shown that oxidation in this system is controlled by diffusion of Cr towards the surface and formation of Cr2O3. Cr diffusion is found to mainly occur along grain boundaries. Thus, coherent cubic AlN/CrN multilayer regions with coarse columnar grain structures are found...
